Introducing Alenuihāhā Channel
New Painting presented in Kipaipai Fellows 2020 Group Show at Kahilu Gallery in Kamuela Hawai'i.
In ʻAlenuihāhā Channel, I capture the defining force of the prevailing Northeasterly winds and currents that are funneled through the 26-mile opening between Hawai'i and Maui Islands. In my work, I use bold swaths of color and hatches to visually reference such turbulence, change, and energy.
My hope is that when the viewer experiences this piece, they feel the same sense of awe I experience when encountering these larger than life forces of nature.
